    Horrible start

    FRUSTRATED!!!

Okay, this is Tracy.  I have to travel quite a bit for my job and now that I'm keeping track, my on-the-road eating habits are atrocious.  Not only do I make horrible choices for meals, but my mind has created twisted little ways to justify the garbage I eat.  "It's okay Tracy, you're in a hurry.  McDonald's doesn't have calories if you're in a hurry and you have to drive all day.....or my favorite...You work on your feet all day, that will burn off the donut in about an hour, then you will deserve Taco Bell for lunch....You'll be much more pleasant to the customers if you have that Dr. Pepper."  I HAD GONE 5 DAYS WITHOUT A DR. PEPPER AND I BLEW IT!!!

So, I purchased a little Igloo cooler and have been filling the freezer with those little microwaveable steamer bags of vegetables. Any other healthy foods that will fit in the cooler will go along with me too.  I am bound and determined to eliminate fast food from life unless it's as a special treat-and only then it will be good choices.

I was so depressed when I came back from my last trip.  I had gained a pound.  And working out while on the road is difficult.  There has to be a better way.  I will gladly welcome suggestions from anyone.

I'm so sorry you had difficulties while out of town.  Tracy, don't be so hard on yourself!  I know that you feel really bad about messing up, but don't.  See, you're not use to being overweight and trying to lose it.  You should take it from an expert at losing, and gaining weight . . . you're going to mess up!  It's only natural.  We are human.  It isn't one Dr. Pepper today or a bacon cheesburger at McDonalds next week that is going to ruin all your efforts.  If you make good decisions the MAJORITY of the time, you will see sccess in the long run.  Also, I've found that it is absolutely detrimental when you try to take away ALL of the things you like.  Make a plan . . . reward yourself with one Dr. Pepper a week for following through with your workouts and healthy eating.  That way, you have something to look forward to, and you are less likely to cheat during the week if you know you are allowed that pleasure at the end of the week.  Also, healthy eating doesn't always have to be just steamed veggies.  I don't know about you, but I'd rather have nachos than brocolli, LOL!  Healthy nachos, that is.  I make mine with extra lean ground beef, ff cheese, ff sour cream, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and light Tostitos.  They are every bit as good as their full fat counterpart.  My girlfriend really isn't into healthy food that tastes like health food, but she LOVES these.  There are several hundred other very good and healthy dishes.  The whole object of eating healthy should be about a lifestyle change, and in order for me to be successful, I have to like what I eat.  If you're going out of town, there are several good frozen dinners around.  Healthy Choice has some really good "cafe steamers," Smart Ones is good as well, along with Lean Cuisine.  There are several options for good, calorie friendly, choices.  Also, there are some good "regular" low calorie frozen meals.  Even if you go to McDonalds, you can make better choices, like the grilled chicken sandwich, no mayo, no cheese, and a side salad.  You can do this, Tracy, and remember, you're going to mess up sometimes, but the important thing is that you go right back to making those good choices.  Good Luck!
